The Responsibilities

The Client Operations & Delivery team in the NWM COO office is accountable for improving our customer experience, control environment and franchise sustainability through oversight of the processes which impact customers across the Client Lifecycle. The Client Due Diligence Approver will help deliver these outcomes in support of our US business and customer base, focused on two primary areas of accountability:

Customer Due Diligence Approval Process:

- Work with offshore analyst team to prioritize and manage case pipeline. Ultimately, assess final customer files and provide sign off or return request to analyst with feedback necessary to repair file deficiencies.

- Work with front office client owners to understand materiality of higher risk situations and where necessary draft business case / justifications for sign off (e.g., related to High Risk clients, requirement waivers, escalations, PEP declassifications, etc.)

- Partner with global peers within Client Operations & Delivery team to ensure risk appetite and approach is consistent across global NWM

- Establish process to provide offshore CDD Operations support team with guidance, support and training as needed, in order to ensure high quality standards and efficient operations

First Line of Defense Financial Crime Control Operation:

- Oversee implementation and ongoing monitoring of controls related to Customer Due Diligence and Client Lifecycle:

  • Perform ongoing file quality assurance and assess effectiveness of CDD Operations assurance processes

  • Ensure Financial Crime controls related to FINRA and other regional requirements are operating effectively (e.g., 311 Notification, USA Patriot Act Certifications, etc.)

  • Escalate exceptions and potential risks through agreed processes

  • Where required by procedure, provide or obtain consolidated 1LOD approvals

  • Work with audit Compliance partners to explain processes and tools

  • Work with peers to define strategies and approach to solving issues or introducing changes


- Detailed knowledge / subject matter expertise of CDD, KYC and Financial Crime screening standards
- Attention to detail, strong work ethic, good humor and enthusiasm for tackling complex challenges
- Ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously, with effective resolution of competing priorities
- Have a strong sense of ownership and accountability for work product
- Minimum FINRA Series 99 holder, Series 7 / 24 eligible
